S'mores Cupcakes

This is my version of a S'mores Cupcake.

These are the basic ingredients that I used...

Devil's Food Cake Mix, Graham Crackers, Mini Choc. Chips, Marshamallow Cream, Chocolate Frosting, Mini Marshmallows & Choc.Swirl Marshmallows.

Crush a pack of graham crackers into crumbs in it's plastic case. It worked out well for me.

Prepare the cake mix according to the directions on the box. Add about a cup of the mini chocolate chips.

Line the muffin pan with cupcake liners and sprinkle in some of the graham cracker crumbs.

Pour in some batter, about 1/2 full.

Cut the large marshmallows in half.

Place the marshmallow halves into the center of the batter.

Cover marshmallows with a small spoonful of cake batter and sprinkle more graham cracker crumbs on top. Then bake as directed.

 In a medium bowl, stir together the marshmallow cream and the chocolate frosting. Leave some swirls in it.

Spoon frosting mixture into a large ziplock bag and cut a hole in one of the bottom corners.

Take cupcakes out of the over and let cool.

Pipe the frosting mixture onto the cupcakes and top with a mini marshmallow.

Then sprinkle on some mini chocolate chips and some more graham cracker crumbs.

I think these turned out so well. I was a little worried, since I just made this recipe up, but they were great! These are perfect for Summer Campouts and any Fourth of July festivities!

Custom Sugar Scrubs

CUSTOM SUGAR SCRUB RECIPES

You should already have all or most of these ingredients at home. I didn't want to make the scrub recipes too complicated. I also didn't want to have to go out or online and buy ingredients that I was only going to use a little bit of. I hope you like what I came up with. Enjoy!

SWEET SUGAR SCRUB

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup white sugar

1/2 cup olive or canola oil

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

CHOCOLATE SUGAR SCRUB

1 cup brown sugar

3 tbsps cocoa powder

1/2 cup olive or canola oil

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

BABY KISS SUGAR SCRUB

1 cup white sugar

1/2 cup baby oil

2 tbsp honey

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

ALMOND DREAM SUGAR SCRUB

1/2 cup white sugar

1/2 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup olive or canola oil

1/2 tsp almond extract

MINTY MAGIC SUGAR SCRUB

1 cup white sugar

1/2 cup olive or canola oil

1/2 tsp mint extract

List of other ingredients that you could use and mix in:

Vitamin E Oil

Aloe Vera Gel

Body Spray or Perfume

Lotion

Essential Oils

Lemon Zest

Here's the one I made:

Lavendar Coconut Love Sugar Scrub

1 cup organic brown sugar

1 cup organic white sugar

1 cup extra virgin olive oil

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 tsp coconut extract

5 drops of Lavendar Essential Oil

(I got some free samples of doTerra essential oils from a friend)

How to decorate your Sugar Scrub jar:

Use a clean empty spaghetti sauce jar, scrap paper, mod podge, acrylic paint, puff paint, a crystal sticker, and ribbon.

Measure the paper and cut it out to fit around the jar.

Paint the jar where the paper will lay with the Mod Podge.

You can do it this way or paint the actual paper to stick onto the jar.

Place the paper around the jar onto the Mod Podged area.

Press it down hard so it sticks, especially along the edges and ends of the paper.

If you have a second layer of paper, do the same as you did above.

After paper is glued to the jar, paint on top of it with the Mod Podge.

Make sure to paint a little extra on the edges of the paper onto the glass jar.

Paint the top circle of the jar lid, if desired.

Wait till the paint is dry and dot the puff paint around the edge of the lid.

Once everything is dry, then tie a bow around with the ribbon and heat seal the edges.

Then pour the ingredients for the sugar scrub into the jar.

I used the sugar scrub that I made on my hands and they felt so soft when I rinsed them off! I am so excited to create more of these sugar scrubs for friends and family! Everyone needs a little trip to the spa, even if it's in their own bathroom. hehe

Quiche and Waffles

Breakfast for Dinner, Yum

If you want a easy and delicious breakfast or dinner then this is the recipe for you. We decided to learn the word Backwards one week, that week we did a lot of backwards things, one of them was Pizza for breakfast and Quiche and Waffles for dinner. I have been trying to loose my baby weight also so I wanted a healthy alternative of the waffles. When it came to the waffles all I did was use the Bisquick Healthy Heart Smart, I just used the recipe on the box and made some modifications. I used yogurt instead of oil and applesauce instead of the egg. They turned out fluffy and yummy. Much better than the regular one's I usually make. Now we are always going to make the healthier version.
The Quiche was very easy too. All you need is:

1/3 cup flour

Cheese

Bacon

6 Eggs

Tomatoes

Onions or other veggies you want or have

Cook and cut the bacon.

Mix the Egg's and flour in a separate bowl.

Spray a pie pan and place the cheese on the bottom.

Add the Bacon, Tomatoes and Veggies. I used what I had but I also like to put asparagus in it too. Then pour the Egg mixture in it. Then Cook for 25 minutes at 350.

Let cool for a little bit, cut and enjoy.

Serve with your favorite pancakes or waffles. I love breakfast food.

Homemade Nail Polish

Homemade Nail Polish

You probably didn't know this, but I am a licensed nail technician and I am obsessed with anything to do with nails. I have been wanting to make my own custom, handmade and gorgeous nail polish, and I finally did! Now you can too...

I got these 4 bottles of clear nail polish at Rite Aid for a great deal. They are normally $.99/ea and they were on sale as BOGO (buy one, get one) 50% off. So all four only cost me $3.00 plus tax. Considering that 1 bottle of nail polish can cost about $8 now, I thought this was pretty good.

Start by making little funnels to put in the top of the bottles. To make one, take a half a piece of paper and twist it around to make a cone. Make sure there is a small hole in the bottom and tape the loose end down.

You can use glitters and/or old eye shadows to create your custom nail polish. I got a few of my glitters and pigments from Coastal Scents. A teaspoon sample is around $1.50 and they have really rich micas, pigments and glitters that are just as good, if not better than, MAC.

Pour out 10-20 drops of the clear polish onto a baby wipe or a napkin and set the brush aside.

Place the funnel in the top of the bottle and make sure the paper doesn't touch the polish.

Then start dumping your glitters and pigments in. I would suggest doing a little bit at a time until you get to the color you want.

Then place the brush back insite and shake it until it is completely mixed. You may need to stir the brush around inside to swirl it around better.

This is one coat of my first silvery glitter mixture. Sorry about the lighting. I couldn't get my flash to work right. It turned out a lot sparklier (is that a word?) than it shows.

Here's a gold mixture I did.

And a red glitter mixture with an eye shadow pigment.

And my favorite, a purple irridescant glitter mixture with eye shadow as well.

I think they turned out really good. This would be a really fun activity to do with young teenage girls or for sleepovers or just for yourself, if you are trying to save money on nail polish.
